Job Posting Details

The Shaw Auditorium (SA) is home to HKUST’s cultural activities and other university-wide programs and a new landmark for large scale events, providing new flexibilities and possibilities to create a vibrant arts, cultural and engagement scene at the University.  The Shaw Auditorium Unit (SAU), in the Office of the President, handles program planning and execution as well as venue operation of SA, and is an ideal place for capable individuals to develop their careers in cultural event management. The SAU is now recruiting an Assistant Officer to assist the SAU management in the day-to-day operations and maintenance and managing logistics in support of scheduled events and activities of the SA.  The appointee will coordinate with internal units, particularly the Media Technology & Publishing Center technical team to the SA, and external groups/ organizations including artists, art organizations, service contractors and event partners to ensure effective organization and execution of all events and activities.  The appointee will also work closely on program coordination of SAU on event/ activity schedules to ensure orderly scheduling management; and manage other logistical issues for programs and events.

Another key area of responsibility for the Assistant Officer is to assist in the development and implementation of the venue management system, operational procedure and user guideline in accordance with University policy; as well as the handling of general enquiries, visitor services, and student trainee program.  Applicants should also have expectation to perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (fluency in Putonghua is an asset but not a requirement), and preferably with 1 year of work experience.  The ideal candidate should have good administrative and interpersonal skills, and an outgoing personality; and is expected to demonstrate passion in cultural management, and venue operation and management.  Working outside normal office hours is required occasionally. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
